zoom modem issues

i've put together a fax server with sendfax and an external zoom v.92 modem, the server works great, you can print from openoffice to fax and even do lists if you wrap it in a shell script, my problem is with the modem, faxrunq will go through the queue until it runs into an error on the other side (timeout or something) and then fail (this is fine if theres a problem on the other side i expect it to give me an error message) but after the first failure i get a no carrier error message every single fax after until i power cycle the modem manually, is there a trick to allowing sendfax to automagically power cycle the modem if there is an error or should i just get a different modem
