I did this and it did not help. Here are more details.

lpr: connect: Connection refused
jobs queued, but cannot start daemon.

But lpd is running (twice even?):
> ps aux | grep lpd

Here is /etc/conf.modules:

We tired switching to "/dev/lp2" and "/dev/lp0", but this made no
difference.
