I'm forwarding some notes that last night's meeting spawned from
Gi to our higher ups.

__________________________Note from Gi Vania ____________________________

I had an interesting evening with Richard and the Southern Illinois Linux
Users Group. We built a Beowulf cluster out of four Pentium II machines..
The particular Linux distribution comes with Povray for rendering
graphics. We copied the distribution in case anyone is interested. It was
not too difficult a task, although I am glad I received the experience.
Now where is that technology bus?

tnx very much Rich!

I have tentatively offered subject to your approval to host the next
meeting here at SOMC. There were less than ten people at the meeting.
It was a good technology transfer but it could be much better with our
support. whatcha think?

------------------------ Response from Joe Deken ---------------------

I think hosting a Linux meeting is a good idea, but the details must
be worked out well in advance. It's also wise to plan for a contingency
that 50 people, rather than 10, show up because it is on campus, and
not during July, etc. etc.

Please keep me posted and I will approve it, but only when/if these
logistical details are squared away. (If IR can make a small contribution
for refreshments, etc. I think I can help with that as well.)

We might even think about "sponsoring" this Linux Users Group in some
more substantial way. Attention to detail is very important here, as
in all "first steps" efforts.
