OT : Senior Linux Admin Job



Savvis Telecommunications is looking for the following immediately : 

  This is a senior engineering postion that will require someone with experience working with Linux and UNIX systems in a large enterprise level environment(100+ rhel servers), with a heterogenous network (Some windows 2000 servers ), highly professional environment, where you must be pro-active, able to assist the customer on installs, troubleshooting, via phone, webex, email, etc. Some oncall work support will be required, as will some weekend maintenance (Friday night/ Saturday night 12:00 - 5AM only occasionally) You will work with other savvis engineers, this environment heavily uses IHS (IBM Http server, aka IBM's version of apache), Apache, Perl, Javascript, PHP, IBM Websphere, so you would be supporting those applications , but not neccessarily need be any expert in any one . 500 plus users environment, and multiple development groups support required.  System monitoring, performance tuning, capacity planning, and network architecture are all part of this job .

   Option to work from home, or flexible hours is available, (to individuals who have shown good work ethics and are able to focus and manage their self) but primary hours would be 9AM to 5PM Mon - Fri .

  Salary range would probably be in the 60-80K range(don't hold me to that, you can negotiate during the interview),depending on the individual and depending on skills and experience level .

- Kickstart (or jumpstart) 
- Shell scripting 
- Perl programming 
- User and group administration 
- OpenSSH 
-  FTP & SFTP 
-  RPM and Package Management 
-  Network Basics troubleshooting (VLAN’s , subnets, etc. this is a MUST) 
-  Crontabs / at jobs 
-  Kernel tuning, system tuning, performance monitoring 
-  Blade Frame architecture (we are on egenera, IBM BF is similar) 
-  3PAR (Other Storage)
