fc5 and bridging

on fc4 i had eth0 in a bridge br0 all set up nice and neat through
ifcfg-eth0 and ifcfg-br0 files located in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts.

i upgraded the box to fc5 through yum, and that went pretty smooth.
rebooted the box and now it tells me eth0 and br0 do not exist.

changed eth0 to have the ip settings that br0 did, and removed
references to bridging and br0 from its config. deleted br0 config.
eth0 now works fine. anyone have any idea what they changed? i dont
see anything in the release notes about changing the bridging behavior.
i got the docs for setting up bridging this way from the RHEL pages, i
always assumed that they would keep things the same.

i was going to be using the bridge for openvpn, but i hadn't set it up
yet, just the bridge.
