That's the expected operation that I'd spent a week trying to figure
out. I tried it again while I was half-awake and ended up munging up
the line that I use to get the ball rolling, and I managed to get the
installer to run. FWIW, it failed both with the CD set I got from Steve
and with the DVD I burned myself, so his NFS issues at the store weren't
what caused it.

As appropriate when I'm halfway to dreamland, I did a double-take,
rebooted, hit only <RET> at the boot: prompt, watched the familiar
kernel panic take place, rebooted, and munged it up again on purpose.
After that, I checked Bugzilla and fedora-list, and behold, people were
having the same problem on some oddball Intel 915-based boards! By the
time I'd stumbled upon it, people'd already started mentioning some
Opteron boards.

... and this is why I get a list of all packages included in the
everything distribution through comps.xml and weed out the groups and
packages I don't want. That list goes into a kickstart script named
something like fc4-x86_64-cloudleaper-ks.cfg so that I don't have to
bother with any of that. Exactly the packages I want, none of what I
don't.
