i know, but you mentioned lvm specifically in the post which is how i
found it in the first place.

/boot has to be on a non-lvm partition it looks like, cannot find any
information to the contrary

the lilo config i have found for lvm involves /boot being on a non lvm
partition, it might but i cannot find anything that says definatively
it does.  it isnt helping that most of my google hits are in languages
i dont speak (especially with search preferences set to us).
