postfix + procmail issue

I just decided to try switching one of our internal systems from
sendmail to postfix. The only catch is that local mail delivery needs
to go through procmail, thanks to several years of .procmailrc cruft
that the user of the system has become accustomed to. :-)

So I follow the postfix FAQ and add "mailbox_command =
/usr/bin/postfix" to main.cf. That works well enough at first
glance... Mail is delivered to the user.

Here's the problem... The user's .procmailrc is completely ignored.
I tried creating ~/.forward with "|/usr/bin/procmail" instead, and the
behavior is identical. I've also tried adding the various options
that sendmail uses when it runs procmail, and none of those seem to
have any effect.

Have any of you seen this? Google isn't helping me much today...
