actually with the exception of the networking, it works just fine here.
havent been able to get it to network with the xp box it is installed on. i
have tested it on 2 different xp boxes though, worked fine except for
networking as i said (didnt test networking on the other box, wasnt my box
and didnt have alot of time to play).

the fact it didnt work *for you* cannot be extrapolated to be the norm for
every windows computer either. works fine for me, i dont know what all the
fuss is about. IIRC you admitted you did not read any of the
documentation...

wanna do shell scripts on windows? what is stopping you? why does it
require colinux as opposed to some other way of doing it?

so your sysadmin is a bofh, im sure that he wouldnt be opposed to cygwin,
especially when i am pretty sure one can install it just fine without
anything more than user rights (which if you installed the colinux tap
driver you have to have admin rights on that machine). or get the actual
win32 port of various *njix utils (unxutils.sourceforge.net). or write a
small vbscript or jscript to do it. there are many many options here.
