Hello Everett:

See if Ispell is even installed. Then make sure that Kword is using Ispell
instead of Aspell.
I hate to say this but Kword and Koffice are just laden with bugs. That is
probably why ispell is not working. I did the docs for Kformula and Kchart. I
also prepared the auto-spellcheck hash table for Kword. While doing those
tasks, I had ample opportunity to find lots of bugs in Koffice. That Ispell
does not work is the least of your troubles. Here are the really bad ones
that have not been fixed:

Synopsis:
Saving a template with a table that laps onto the next page will flood your
memory and swap space:
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=46343
Not Fixed!
Synopsis:
Bug 51929: Repeatedly saving a Kword doc causes the footers to expand
(normal)
http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=51929
Not Fixed!

I advise you to use Abiword and Gnumeric or OpenOffice. Sorry for the bad
news Everett but Koffice is in really bad shape.

							Kind regards
							Jonathan
