Whoah!!! Sprint PCS Vision isn't billed by minutes. They now bill by raw
(total link frame) megabytes. At the typical  50-70 kbps data rate most
folks actually see, I calculated that a 2M/month plan will be exhausted
in under 7 minutes. 

You shouldn't have to worry about M$ vs Linux software unless you want
to communicate directly with the phone itself. Just treat it as a PPP
port and go.
