Geez, could it be because Paypal operates like a bank without the
requirements of a bank?  Could it be that LowendMac.com and Abiword are
just a few of the many people that have had their accounts hacked into and
drained?

Good luck getting them to close your account when the money is being
drained.  The LowendMac.com archives are a pretty ugly read about what
happens when you've got a (relative) monopoly and no restrictions.
