Re: seems harder than it is




Most modems will want some sort of hardware handshake, dtr, etc.  I've
tried the very thing that you've tried.  Unless you can set your modem to
ignore DTR (it's hit or miss... my friends Supra 14.4 would) then you'll
need to do something to make it.  

Minicom will do it, I'm sure services like ppp will also... dont forget
your friend cu that's part of the uucp package in RedHat (where to find it
if you're running RH).  

There is also a perl module that will do it... but I'll warn you that if
you screw up your syntax you can make perl dump core.  Wheee!
