irc server? (was: RE: New Computer for Linux OS)

whats an easy to setup/administer irc server for linux? it seems like
everytime i try one it either wont compile, or wont run once compiled, or
runs but immediately exits.  anything that is dead easy to administer once
up would be nice, and i would prefer something stable.

anyone have any ideas?

yeah, one of the channels that i sit in all day has an op in it who wrote
a filter that kick-bans people for talking like that.  it is the funniest
shit that i have seen in a while.  i see this almost daily:
