Installing ssh problem

I am using Redhat 6.1.  I downloaded openssh rpm source and 
entered...

rpm --rebuild openssh-3.0.1p1-1.src.rpm

...and I got the following error...

package openssl is not installed
line 73: Version required:  PreReq: openssl =

I tried using ssh afterwards and got a file-not-found
error.  Any ideas?
