"w" command reports too many users

I'm running RedHat 7.1.

Sometimes when I run the "w" command, the number of currently logged on users it
reports is incorrect.  Last night, I was only logged on once and it reported 2
users.  I have seen it report 3 or 4 users in this situation as well.

Am I doing something wrong?  Did someone not get logged off cleanly?
